Inhalation Exposure Calculator (RAGS USEPA)
Inhalation risk assessment following RAGS USEPA Part F: activity-specific inhalation rates, LADC/ADEC, and sub-chronic and chronic exposure factors.
Overview
This calculator adopts the USEPA Risk Assessment Guidance for Superfund (RAGS) Part F: Supplemental Guidance for Inhalation Risk Assessment. Risk is derived from airborne concentration and exposure time (ET), using either the Lifetime Average Daily Concentration (LADC) or the Average Daily Exposure Concentration (ADEC). Compared with Indonesia's 2021 EHRA guideline (Kepmenkes No. 1213), it uses activity-specific inhalation rates — resting versus heavy activity — and covers sub-chronic and chronic exposure factors in finer detail.
What you will learn
- Compute LADC and ADEC
- Apply activity-specific inhalation rates
- Enter exposure time (ET) and duration
- Cover sub-chronic and chronic exposure factors
- Compare results against the 2021 EHRA guideline
- Trace the full calculation for your report
Who it is for
Environmental and occupational health practitioners, sanitarians, students, and researchers assessing inhalation risk.
Prerequisites: No prerequisites. A background in environmental health helps.
What you get
- Verified RAGS USEPA Part F formulas
- Inhalation rates by activity level
- Per-respondent results table
- Full calculation trace
- Runs offline from a single file

Questions about this product
Why use RAGS USEPA rather than the 2021 EHRA guideline?
RAGS USEPA uses activity-specific inhalation rates plus sub-chronic and chronic exposure factors, making the assessment more sensitive to different activity scenarios. The calculator also shows the comparison with the 2021 EHRA approach.
